From Dialogue to Action

Launching the First Cycle of the STEM Rise Mentoring Programme

Over the past few years, ASREN has been creating spaces where women in STEM can connect, exchange experiences, and make their voices heard.

What began as dedicated sessions within the e-AGE conference series has gradually evolved into a broader, more intentional effort to support women across the region.

From engaging panel discussions to interactive workshops and regional webinars, these initiatives have highlighted not only the challenges women face, but also the strength, leadership, and potential that already exist within the community.

But over time, one message became clear:

Dialogue is important — but it is not enough.

Sustained impact requires continuity. It requires support that goes beyond events and into real professional pathways.

"If we don't stand together and collaborate and hold each other's back, we will not be able to proceed, innovate, or create. It's about supporting each other — across the Arab region, across women in science, and across the global research community."

From Momentum to Structure

These reflections led to a natural next step: transforming moments of connection into a structured and lasting support system.

The goal was clear — to move from creating spaces for dialogue to building pathways for growth.

This is how the STEM Rise Mentoring Programme was born.

The STEM Rise Mentoring Programme

The STEM Rise Mentoring Programme connects women in STEM with experienced mentors from academia, research, and industry across the region.

Through one-to-one mentoring relationships, the programme supports:

🎯 Career development
💡 Skills enhancement
🔄 Knowledge exchange
💪 Confidence building
Women professionals working together

Designed as a flexible and regionally connected initiative, STEM Rise allows participants to engage remotely while benefiting from diverse perspectives across countries and disciplines.

Supported by the EUMEDplus initiative, the programme contributes to a vision of collaboration that goes beyond infrastructure — placing people, communities, and opportunities at its core.

As the first cycle launches, the focus is on building meaningful connections — creating a supportive environment where ideas can grow, challenges can be addressed, and new opportunities can emerge.
