AFLI Joins the DataCite Community Through the ASREN–DataCite Consortium انضمام الاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات إلى مجتمع داتا سايت من خلال تحالف آسرن–داتا سايت
New collaboration will strengthen the adoption of persistent identifiers (PIDs) and enhance the visibility of Arab scholarly outputs, resources and activities. تعاون جديد يعزّز تبنّي المعرّفات الدائمة (PIDs) ويرفع مستوى ظهور المخرجات والموارد والأنشطة العلمية العربية
The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) has officially joined the DataCite community through the ASREN–DataCite Consortium, marking an important step towards strengthening the adoption of persistent identifiers and enhancing the visibility, accessibility, and impact of scholarly and professional outputs across the Arab region.
AFLI’s membership commenced on July 2026, following close coordination among AFLI, the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), and DataCite.
انضم الاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات (اعلم) رسمياً إلى مجتمع داتا سايت من خلال تحالف آسرن-داتا سايت، في خطوة مهمة نحو تعزيز تبنّي المعرّفات الدائمة وزيادة ظهور المخرجات العلمية والمهنية في المنطقة العربية، وتعزيز إمكانية الوصول إليها وزيادة أثرها.
وبدأت عضوية "اعلم" في يوليو 2026 بعد تنسيق وثيق بين الاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات وشبكة البحث والتعلّم العربية (آسرن) ومؤسسة داتا سايت.
Through this membership, AFLI will become part of the ASREN-DataCite Consortium providing access to trusted persistent identifier infrastructure that supports Open Science and FAIR practices.
Through the EUMEDplus project, ASREN is supporting AFLI’s DataCite membership fees for the remainder of 2026 and the full year of 2027, reflecting its commitment to reducing financial barriers and expanding access to persistent identifier services within Arab research, education, library, and information communities.
ومن خلال هذه العضوية، يصبح الاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات جزءاً من تحالف آسرن-داتا سايت لتقديم وصول إلى بنية تحتية موثوقة للمعرفات الدائمة تدعم مبادئ العلوم المفتوحة (Open Science) ومبادئ بيانات FAIR.
ومن خلال مشروع EUMEDplus، تدعم آسرن رسوم عضوية اعلم في داتا سايت للفترة المتبقية من عام 2026 وكامل عام 2027، بما يعكس التزامها بالحد من العوائق المالية وتوسيع نطاق الوصول إلى خدمات المعرّفات الدائمة في مجتمعات البحث والتعليم والمكتبات والمعلومات في المنطقة العربية.

Looking Ahead آفاق المستقبل والتعاون
The collaboration will create opportunities for joint awareness activities, training, and capacity-building programmes targeting librarians, information specialists, publishers, researchers, and other stakeholders.
AFLI, ASREN, and DataCite will work together to support the onboarding process, strengthen professional and institutional capacity, and encourage the effective use of DataCite services within AFLI’s network and the wider Arab library and information community.
This milestone reflects the shared commitment of AFLI, ASREN, and DataCite to advancing the adoption of persistent identifiers, strengthening the visibility of Arab scholarly and professional outputs, and supporting Open Science practices throughout the region.
وسيوفر هذا التعاون فرصًا لتنفيذ أنشطة مشتركة للتوعية والتدريب وبناء القدرات تستهدف أمناء المكتبات، واختصاصيي المعلومات، والناشرين، والباحثين، وغيرهم من أصحاب المصلحة.
وسيعمل اعلم وآسرن وداتا سايت معًا لدعم عملية الانضمام والتهيئة، وتعزيز القدرات المهنية والمؤسسية، وتشجيع الاستخدام الفعّال لخدمات داتا سايت ضمن شبكة اعلم وفي مجتمع المكتبات والمعلومات العربي الأوسع.

Founded in 2009 as a non-profit organization and registered in Germany, DataCite is an essential component of open research infrastructure. It supports the creation and management of persistent identifiers (PIDs), integrates services to enhance research workflows, and facilitates the discovery and reuse of research outputs and resources. داتا سايت مجتمع عالمي من المؤسسات البحثية يجمعها اهتمام مشترك يتمثل في ضمان إتاحة المخرجات والموارد والأنشطة البحثية بصورة مفتوحة ومترابطة، بما يتيح إعادة استخدامها لتطوير المعرفة داخل التخصصات المختلفة وفيما بينها، في الحاضر والمستقبل. وقد تأسست داتا سايت عام 2009 بوصفها منظمة غير ربحية مسجلة في ألمانيا، وهي مكوّن أساسي من مكوّنات البنية التحتية للبحث المفتوح. كما تدعم إنشاء المعرّفات الدائمة (PIDs) وإدارتها، وتدمج الخدمات التي تعزّز مسارات العمل البحثية، وتيسّر اكتشاف المخرجات والموارد البحثية وإعادة استخدامها.
