SESAME integrates eduroam with support from ASREN under the EUMEDplus project
Posted on: 09 Nov, 2025
ASREN is pleased to highlight the successful deployment of eduroam at SESAME, the region’s synchrotron-light facility, marking an important milestone in strengthening research connectivity in the Middle East. This achievement aligns with the objectives of the EU-funded EUMEDplus project, through which ASREN is supporting the introduction and expansion of eduroam services in countries where it is not yet fully deployed.
The deployment at SESAME was made possible through close collaboration between ASREN and GÉANT, working together to provide secure authentication frameworks and the technical foundations that enable eduroam’s seamless, “connect and go” experience. With eduroam now available at SESAME’s campus in Jordan, researchers visiting the facility can enjoy secure and convenient access using their home institution’s credentials, while SESAME staff benefit from the same service when traveling abroad.
This integration illustrates the growing impact of regional cooperation on research and education networks. With the support of EUMEDplus, ASREN continues to work with partners across the region to advance digital infrastructure, promote secure access services, and create a more connected research environment for all.
